Master’s degree students are required to write a “methodology” chapter for their thesis, which is the key to the whole thesis and is mainly located after the introduction and the literature review, and is seldom covered in ordinary coursework. The tutor pays particular attention to this section and often asks questions about it. It is therefore recommended that you explain why you have chosen your methodology and how you have used it in relation to your own research topic.
What is “methodology”?
Specifically, you should explain why you have adopted a certain methodology and how you have applied it to your research.
You can take the thesis guide with you wherever you go, with in-depth analyses of each section!
Research Methods Chapter Explanation
1. qualitative analysis: categorising objects and ideas, with strong explanatory power, but with a certain degree of subjectivity.
2. Quantitative analysis: detail the process of collecting and analysing the data collected, including steps such as eliminating abnormal data and shifting variables. It also describes what kind of software and statistical methods were used.
3. Data collection chapter analysis
This chapter focuses on how the selected data were collected, the criteria, and whether or not the data were secondary data, and specifies the means of obtaining the primary data or the sources of the secondary data and the reasons for adopting them.
Analysis of Data Analysis
The method of data analysis used in this study and the software used will be described, as well as the rationale for choosing the software. It will be shown how the results of the experiments verify the theoretical hypotheses.
Limitations and Challenges
The limitations of quantitative research methods and the shortcomings of specific quantitative methods will be clarified, and the limitations of qualitative research methods in the application process also need to be explored. In addition, the challenges encountered during data collection and ways to overcome them need to be pointed out.
